Museums Imaging-Malta..Part 2

In the last entry I showed some examples of studies of the paintings.

Here are some complex sculpture compositions which were particularly interesting.

LES GAVROCHES-BRONZE-1907

Made by Antonio Sciortino (1879-1947) this sculptural group was inaugurated in Malta in 1907. It has already been successfully exhibited in it’s plaster original in Rome and Paris in 1905. The artist was influenced by Impressionist techniques and Realist concerns in this, his first masterpiece when he was only 24 years old.

The statue which represents three street urchins from the great novel Les Miserables by Viktor Hugo is a successful fusion of complex composition and perceptive characterization.
