Happy new year! Meeting 1_2012
To buttress our understanding we are trying to go into specifics of meanings.
Gita Readings:Dictionary project :Meanings of words from scriptures
Sankhya Yoga- System of self-realization, primary emphasis is laid on the direct perception of the Universal self through constant meditation.
Parth Etymologically-Son of Pritha. In Mahabharata, “Pritha” is one of the names of Kunti. Subtler meaning-A person who bases his existence on gross entities
Parantapa- Person capable of scorching his opponents
( Giving undue importance to preservation of only gross existence, results in unmanliness. Considerations of worldly possessions, luxuries, family ties etc make a man’s consciousness gross; and the efforts which he makes to acquire them use up his energies. But when consciousness is directed towards Contemplation of Universal Self,by turning away from the gross, then it conquers faint-heartedness and burns up all negative thoughts.)
Gudakesa-Conqueror of sleep (one of the names of Arjuna)..Here it signifies conqueror of the sleep of delusion, surrendering to the Universal Self for waking up fully into enlightenment.
Management perspective
Discussion theme-What was my best and worst idea. Last week we had discussed the experiences of a Radiology Chair who reflected on how tolerating the disruptive behavior of a celebrated Physician scientist harmed his department.

This week participants will come and discuss their own experiences
Philosophy:Remembering Vaclav Havel-Reconnecting to our humanity:
“When Jan Patočka wrote about Charter 77, he used the term “solidarity of the shaken:’ He was thinking of those who dared resist impersonal power and to confront it with the only thing at their disposal, their own humanity.” What do these words mean to you in the current situations in the world, your region?
